On today’s #IHAQ, we talked to Craig Bass from Motion Source about hiring Video Production Companies. When do you need one, can you produce videos in house and what types of videos are best left to a production company.
First, Craig reiterates the fact that business need to use video in order to successfully market their product/service. We dove into that topic, explored the recent trends in video marketing and created a short survey about different types of content earlier this week that you can check out here.
Craig talks about the ‘crown jewels’ of a marketing campaign, the ‘About Us’ videos, fundraising videos, product introductions/demos and high level testimonial videos. These are all types of content that will exist and represent your product/service for years to come and definitely require a high level of expertise in order to produce an awesome finished product.
There is some content that can be produced in house, or even better, by your audience. Thanks to social media, there is a definite increase in user generated video content being shared by brands.
User-generated content (UGC) is any content—text, videos, images, reviews, etc.—created by people, rather than brands. And brands will often share UGC on their own social media accounts, website, and other marketing channels.
User generated content gives a unique look into your product directly from the people who use it.
Marketing this UCG gives your product a sense of authenticity to other potential customers from a relatable source. It’s a fun and fast way for your audience to consume reviews rather than reading through google, amazon or your website.
